NIDA T32 Postdoctoral Fellow 

Dr. Atkinson (University of Kentucky) completed her internship at UChicago Medicine. Emily is currently a NIDA T32 postdoctoral fellow working in the Clinical Addictions Research Lab. Her primary research interests and areas of expertise include emotion-based risk for alcohol and substance use disorders, impulsivity, and clinical assessment methodology. She provides clinical services for substance use disorders, health behavior change, and emotion dysregulation using CBT, DBT, and motivational interviewing.

Dr. Belli is a postdoctoral fellow working in the adult outpatient psychiatry clinic and the integrated primary care behavioral medicine service. She received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and completed her internship at the Institute of Living/Hartford Hospital on the Adult CBT track. Dr. Belli’s clinical and research interests focus primarily on anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive and related disorders, and post traumatic stress disorder.

Dr. Kannout completed her Pediatric Psychology Internship training at Harvard Medical School / Boston Children’s Hospital. As a Fellow, her clinical work at UChicago Medicine spans consultation-liaison, hematology-oncology, gastroenterology, endocrinology, and allergy/immunology, providing evidence-based care to medically complex children, adolescents, and young adults. Her research focuses on health equity, examining how systemic inequities shape psychosocial outcomes for chronically ill and historically marginalized youth and families. Dr. Kannout is also involved in advocacy and community health efforts related to health policy, immigrant and refugee mental health, and culturally responsive care.

Monique Harris, Ph.D. (Oklahoma State University) completed her clinical internship in the Child Trauma/Community Health track at MetroHealth. She currently serves as the Child Trauma Postdoctoral Fellow at UChicago Medicine, where she provides care to youth and their families navigating the aftermath of traumatic experiences. Dr. Harris’ clinical and research interests are deeply rooted in her commitment to destigmatizing mental health and advancing trauma-informed, culturally responsive interventions for marginalized communities. Her work centers on supporting Black youth and children within the foster care system, with a focus on promoting healing, resilience, and equity in mental health care. Sophia W. Light, Ph.D., is a psychology postdoctoral fellow in the Psychogastroenterology Program. She completed her graduate training at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and her doctoral internship at UChicago Medicine. Her clinical interests are in clinical health psychology, with a specific interest in psychogastroenterology, and her research areas include modifiable lifestyle factors, health behavior change, and health equity.

Michelle Williams, Ph.D. (Indiana University-Indianapolis) completed her internship at UChicago Medicine. She is a postdoctoral fellow in the Griffith Lab. Her primary research examines the intersection of mental health conditions and chronic diseases, with an emphasis on leveraging digital mental health interventions to expand access to care and improve both mental and physical health outcomes. Dr. Williams also provides clinical services in health psychology.
